One of the most important relationships in all of Star Wars and one of the central themes of the prequel trilogy centres on the forbidden love between Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.

Now that we are aware that Amidala was older than Anakin, how old were they at the time of their first encounter, and how long did it take for them to fall in love?

Due to the strict guidelines of the Jedi Order, which suggest that a Jedi shouldn’t have close relationships, their entire relationship was kept a secret.

Even so, their love was too strong, and Anakin was willing to break any law necessary to be with his life partner. Here is all the information you need to know about Padme and Anakin’s ages at each significant turning point in their narrative.

When Were Anakin and Padme Born?

In the year 41 BBY, Anakin Skywalker was born and raised on the planet Tatooine. He was conceived by Toydarian Watto and Shmi Skywalker, both of whom were Gardulla the Hutt’s slaves on the planet Tatooine.

Despite the fact that his mother moved to the planet after his birth when he was still a toddler, it was initially thought that Anakin was born on Tatooine.

Additionally, it’s thought that Anakin Skywalker is fatherless. He has the highest concentration of Midi-chlorins in his body, making him the most Force-sensitive person in the history of the galaxy.

At the age of 14, she put herself forward as a candidate to succeed the previous Queen of Naboo. She adopted the alias Candidate Amidala,” as it was customary on Naboo for candidates to maintain their anonymity in order for their political platform and platform alone to be considered by the populace.

She soon assumed the title of Padmé Amidala, the new Queen of Naboo, and met Anakin while travelling to Tatooine, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

How Old Was Padme When She Met Anakin?

When a starship malfunctioned due to damage at one point while Queen Amidala was traversing the galaxy, she was forced to make an emergency landing on Tatooine.

Amidala assumed the identity of Padme, a regular citizen, and set out to explore with Qui-Gon Jinn by her side after becoming curious about the desert planet.

The best location on Tatooine, according to Jinn, is the spaceport of Mos Espa, where she, the droid R2-D2, and their companions went. The two first met while Anakin was working on pod repairs for his master there.

Padme was 14 and Anakin was 9 when they first met, based on the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which took place in 32 BBY.

Anakin and Padme Were How Old When They Fell in Love?

Fast-forward ten years to 22 BBY, the year of the film Attack of the Clones. Anakin was a 19-year-old Jedi padawan in training who was still reckless and wild.

Padmé Amidala, on the other hand, had been Queen of Naboo for a decade despite being only 24 years old. That’s when they ran into each other again.

Despite their small age difference, Anakin and Padme had chemistry from their first meeting. Although I must admit that I’m not sure how well Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman’s chemistry worked.

Nonetheless, it was clear that Amidala and Skywalker were firing on all cylinders. They fall in love soon after and keep it a secret for the rest of the film.

She hides it because she is a responsible woman who should be looking for a similar man, not some guy who isn’t even allowed to be with her. And, of course, Anakin keeps it a secret because of the Jedi Order’s rules.

He was not to have any close relationships, particularly romantic ones. That didn’t stop them from becoming involved, falling in love, and eventually marrying by the end of the film.

The Jedi assumed Anakin was simply accompanying the Queen back to her home, but when they arrived at Naboo, Skywalker and Amidala secretly married on a beautiful lake. They were still 24 and 19, respectively, at the time.

How Old Were Anakin and Padme at the Time of Her Death?

Three years later, in 19 BBY, the third and final instalment of the prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, takes place. Anakin was 22 and Padme was 27, and they had been married for three years in secret.

That is when things started to go wrong. Anakin was on the verge of joining the Dark Side due to his inner rage and negative emotions while Padmé Amidala was pregnant but ill.

His downward spiral was accelerated by the terminal illness of the person he loved most in the world. Anakin thought that discovering the Dark Side might eventually lead to Padme’s life being saved.

But he was mistaken because it only made the situation worse. Amidala was corrupted by Anakin, and despite Palpatine’s assurance that he would spare her life, she passed away soon after at the age of just 27.

After giving birth to Luke and Leia, Anakin’s children, Padmé Amidala passed away. Amidala was weak and devastated upon learning that Anakin had chosen the Dark Side. She eventually lost her will to live as a result, and she died.
